We provided structural and conservation engineering services on this, one of Edinburgh’s best-known thoroughfares. The Grade A Listed Scotsman Steps have had a major facelift. This incorporated stonework repairs and replacements to decorative carved stone cornices, ornate stone balusters and remedial works to the existing staircase structure to except new stone cladding.

The stonework restoration included the removal and replacement of large exquisitely carved overhanging scrolls, which required to be structurally pinned back to the original structure.

The Scotsman Steps project has won a number of design awards including the RIAS Award and the Civic Trust Award 2012.

The Scotsman steps have been reclad in marble by Turner Prize winner Martin Creed.
