After graduating from Trinity College Dublin, I moved to London to work for a multinational consultancy. I gained a tremendous experience with there, spending a decade based in a number of offices in several countries and working on projects throughout the UK, Middle East and central Asia. I settled in Edinburgh after falling in love with the Scottish hills and mountains, and enjoying the charms of the old city.
I have a wide experience in the civic and higher education sector. In recent year the focus has been in the residential and commercial sector, with projects throughout Scotland. With Scotland’s large stock of historic buildings of great heritage value, there has been a number of interesting refurbishment projects. These range from typical Georgian tenements to grade A listed modernist buildings. I enjoy the additional challenge of working with existing buildings, and it gives us an opportunity to ensure previously neglected buildings will have a beneficial use into the future. The existing fabric of our built environment is a great resource that should be preserved for future generations to benefit from and enjoy.
I became a chartered engineer with the IStructE in 2009 and I joined Will Rudd Davidson in 2016. I have recently become registered with SER and now take on a greater responsibility for the certification of projects in the office.
Outside of work I enjoy travelling, to far-away places to see interesting architecture and to try new food experiences, or closer to home for a walk up a misty hill. When not away, we like to invite friends around for some fine dining and to pitch our wits against each other through various tabletop games.
