My principal role is to supervise and coordinate a team of Engineers and technical support staff in the day to day running of engineering projects. This involves liaising with other equivalent teams within the office to control and plan resource requirements, managing the programming of design projects and monitoring the quality and efficiency of our design processes and output.
I also have direct role on a variety of projects, including the development of a brief with the Client, commissioning of investigative surveys, scheme design, detailed design, design team coordination, securing statutory approvals, site inspections, meetings and reporting.
I have had full time experience since 2004 on a wide range of structural and infrastructure works in both the public and private sectors comprising commercial, industrial, educational, healthcare and residential projects. During this time I have gained an appreciation of the value that can be achieved by providing a design that balances sustainability, future flexibility, buildability and economy, and that has been developed in harmony with the allied design disciplines of architecture, building services and landscape.
I have a great affection for the city of Edinburgh and surrounding region, in particular the close proximity of the diverse rural and coastal surroundings to an historic, friendly and culturally vibrant urban centre. I am a keen cyclist and enjoy riding with friends or the local club in Edinburgh and the Lothians. I also enjoy sampling from the array of spoken word, music, film and theatre that the city offers all year round and, of course, during its many festivals of science and culture.
