I concluded my studies at the University of Strathclyde in 2013, where I graduated with a Master’s degree in Structural and Architectural Engineering. Since then, I have worked for various engineering design consultancies, joining Will Rudd Davidson as a Project Engineer in early 2017.
Throughout my time in industry so far, I have been fortunate to work on a range of projects across various sectors, however I have a particular fondness for projects in the public realm, which have a positive impact on the local and wider community. These have included educational campuses, community centres, healthcare facilities and the modernisation of the Glasgow Subway System.
I’m a huge believer in the importance of communication on projects – it is vital for any project to succeed, and endeavour to arrive at holistic solutions through collaboration with our fellow professionals. I love working with challenging sites, which could anything from be a grade A listed building in the city centre to a pocket of brownfield land that sits in a flood plain, and being able to unlock the potential of the site to meet our client’s needs.
My role as a Senior Engineer is to drive project design and delivery from the front line and lead a team of our talented engineers and technicians . One aspect of this role is the mentoring of the team, which I find particularly rewarding. I am fortunate to extend this mentorship with the University of Strathclyde, where I act as an industry mentor to third year Civil Engineering undergraduates and have presented the odd workshop to the faculty which showcases the great work we do at Will Rudd Davidson.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time my friends and family. I am a big football fan, although I am probably better suited to watching than playing these days, as those who have played five-aside games on the same team as will attest to! I also try to make some time for cycling and weight lifting when I can.
Another of my passions is travel, and I am at my most content when I’m exploring new cities. After visiting, I have developed soft spots for the cities of Cologne, Copenhagen, New York and Barcelona. That being said, I’m a proud Glaswegian and have huge affection for our “dear green place.” . I’m thankful that my job enables me to make small contributions to its fabric.
